Chapter 4: Edward

We’re in my parking garage. And Robin has a right to be hesitant and cautious about my promises. But this time I plan to make everything right. I solicited my father. He’s a tough negotiator and knows how to handle this situation I find myself embroiled in. He can be ruthless with everyone except his family. He dotes on Alexis and when she said she wanted to marry Wayne he made sure Wayne would have the kind of job to take care of his little girl and one where he could keep an eye on him.

My mother would go along with anything, if it means having a grandchild she could brag on, and show pictures to her girlfriends on card night at the country club. My father could break the news to my mother. There would be two grandchildren and not the marriage she had planned with Maggie. She would have another wedding to help plan.

I hurried up to my apartment on the thirtieth floor not because I was eager to make love to Robin, which I was, but because I needed to check in with my father. The last time I talked to him, Maggie was going in his study to see him followed closely by a worried Wayne.

Robin and I are entering my apartment. She still has that young girl glow on her face as she glances around. “I’m going to buy you another apartment as impressive as this one. A home when we have three more children. I didn’t tell you that I want a large family.”

“No there were a few things you conveniently left out.” She closes her mouth into a hard line and looks at me, not the least bit convinced by my promises. “I’m tired, Edward. I’m going to take a shower.” She heads for my room which excites me. Maybe she’s coming around and accepting that I’m not a fake. I’m serious about our life together.

I check in the kitchen, as Robin kicks off her shoes and trudge’s to my room. I open the warmer and my cook left a midnight snack for us. In the fridge is Robin’s ice cream and tons of green grapes warm and cold. “That’s taken care of,” I murmur, “now to call my father.”

I’m hoping he isn’t sleeping. He’s probably up watching some porn on HBO to have a go at my mother once a month. I close my eyes because I don’t want to think about that. Just the thought can make my cock go soft. I don’t need a soft dick tonight, I need a full arsenal to convince Robin that I’m worth taking a chance with, one more time.

I call my father on my house phone. The phone is ringing. He picks up on the third ring.

“Dad.”

“Where are you, Edward?”

“I’m home. My number comes up on your phone.”

“Oh that. I can’t see the damn number without my glasses. And you better be glad that I’m not in bed with your mother...”
